Medical Education Fellowship

Overview

The Medical Education Fellowship in Emergency Medicine is a one to two year mentored fellowship that offers advanced training in teaching, curriculum design, and the fundamentals of medical education research (two year option) for a graduate of an accredited Emergency Medicine residency program. The time dedicated to the fellowship should provide a foundation for the Fellow to gain a substantial base of knowledge and skills that will benefit them in a career in academic Emergency Medicine.

Curriculum and Objectives
  1. Didactic Teaching- The Fellow will be able to identify and describe several modalities for delivering information to learners through:
    -Lectures
    -Small Groups
    -Journal Club
    -Medical Student Rotation
  2. Clinical Teaching- The Fellow will participate in the clinical teaching of medical students, interns, and residents in the Emergency Department as an Attending Physician.
  3. Curriculum Development- The Fellow will develop a curriculum project that is suitable for medical students studying Emergency Medicine. Opportunities for developing components of the residency curriculum may be available.
  4. Medical Education Research- The Fellow will be introduced to the fundamentals of medical education research.
  5. Appointments

    -UCLA Acute Care College Advisory Board
    -Additional appointments may be made based on individual qualifications, needs, and interests.
